How would you change your life if you won a lottery jackpot?

July 14, 2010 - 7:04 am 2 Comments

One of my favorite daydreams is to imagine my life after winning one of those multi-state lottery jackpots. I’m curious as to what others might do.

This is one of my favorite daydreams, too. I’d pay off my student loans from college (currently my parents are paying them since I’m in grad school), and I’d stop taking loans for my grad classes.
I’d also get a new car, since my current one is from 1990.
I support a little girl in Peru through Compassion.com, and I’d like to give them some financial help as well.

KC Man Claims $3.1M Lotto Jackpot

July 10, 2010 - 11:41 am No Comments

Paul Bunich joked with a worker at a Hy-Vee store that he needed a winning lottery ticket. And that’s exactly what he got.

The Missouri Lottery announced Monday that Bunich, 52, of Kansas City, won the $3.1 million Lotto jackpot on Dec. 8.

But it took another week and another trip to the grocery store, where he again urged a worker to sell him a winning ticket, before he discovered he already was a millionaire. On his way home from shopping, he stopped for gas and checked the week-old ticket stowed in his glove box.

Why is it that older people seem to win the jackpot?

July 8, 2010 - 8:27 am 4 Comments

I’ve never seen anyone in their 20′s and 30′s win the jackpot esp with all these news stories on lotto winners. Thery are usally between the ages of 50-80.

This isn’t always true, but as far as gambling populations you will notice that more often than not it is people in poverty and older folk who spend their time at casinos or take long shot risks. This is simply due to their social and economic situation. It actually makes sense for a poor person to invest $1 in a lottery ticket even though they are 1,000,000+:1 to win, because that single dollar invested in another area will do basically no good.

The same goes for older people. They are most likely living off of a retirement fund or social security. With a fixed income, they are willing to take more risk to hit a bigger reward to improve their overall condition. Plus, with so much free time why not do something fun?

The lottery and gambling in general is a great socio-economic look at people.

If I hit the jackpot for 5 million would I be able to get a girlfriend?

July 2, 2010 - 4:02 pm 15 Comments

Reason why I ask this is because right now I’m poor and so I can’t get a girlfriend. I wonder why do women care so much about money? I think a person’s character should mean more to someone than money. Do you think if I hit the jackpot for 5 million I would be able to get a girlfriend?

Man, if you go to a bar and tell everyone you just won five million dollars, you -will- have a girlfriend by the end of the night. Hell, in some bars, you may even walk out with two or three.

Some might say it’s a sad statement of human nature, but in reality, that’s just the way it works.

PS- In saying this, I’m assuming at least an average socializing ability. I suppose there are some guys out there who could blow even that great card.

If you bought somebody a lottery ticket for a gift and they won the jackpot, what would you do?

June 28, 2010 - 8:48 am 5 Comments

Would you be happy for them? Would you kick yourself? Would you hope they shared it with you? Would you be mad if they didn’t offer you any money? The other way around though, if you were given a lottery ticket for a gift and won the jackpot what would you do? How would you feel?

I’d be happy for them and no I would demand anything or ask for anything..it was a GIFT! Not a requirement.

If I won…Most would go to the government. Do you realize that 66 percent of every 1 million goes to them? YEP..thanks to BO!

I would share what is left….and spend it all before BO took the rest! At least I would have it…and they couldn’t take it. (I would get it all in gift cards and keep them for use!) government can’t count that as income then.
